July 9 – 13, 2023
United Mission Week is an exciting week of serving in our community! Students and volunteers come together to engage with our community through construction projects that our Missions Department has arranged, as well as partnering with local non-profit organizations projects. Throughout the week, there will be amazing opportunities for worship, prayer, fun activities, great food, and most importantly of all, experiencing the presence of Jesus together as we serve others. Every night, after a hard day’s work & a much needed shower at their teams assigned shower houses, you will get to hear from gifted and talented worship leaders, speakers, and spend time bonding with your teammates.
Throughout the week, First Methodist Mansfield will serve as “home base” for all students and volunteers.
Work teams will consist of 2 adults and about 7 other students working on a variety of projects from lawn care to construction.

Middle School Students
- Our Middle School Mission Week Experience is for current 6, 7, and 8th-grade students (2022-2023 school year)
Middle School Teams will spend most of their day at their work site, from 8am-2pm. At 2pm all middle school teams will join for an afternoon activity and then at 4pm head to shower houses. They will spend their evenings having dinner with all of the Mission Week participants and leaders before heading into worship. Our Middle School students do not spend the night on our campus. Parents are asked to come pick up their middle schoolers at 8:30pm once worship is over.
Drop-off time in the morning (Monday-Thursday) is 7:15am and pick-up is 8:30pm. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner are provided each day.
High School Students
- High School Mission Week Experience is for current 9 through 12th-grade students (2022-2023 school year)
High School Teams will spend their entire day at their work site, from 8am-4pm. Once they are done on their work sites, they go to their shower houses and enjoy some down time before jumping in to our night activities that include dinner, worship, and other organized events. Our High School students will spend the night at the church throughout the entire week to provide an opportunity for our older students to grow in deeper relationships with one another without distractions.
Adult Mentors and Volunteers
The key to having a successful week at United Mission Week is to have a committed group of adult volunteers and mentors pouring into the students. We simply cannot have United Mission Week without you! The greatest need we have is for Work Team Adults. There are two Work Team Adults assigned to each team and their role is to mentor and guide the students at their work sites and serve as mentors to them throughout the week. We hear over and over each year that Work Team Adults get more out of the experience than students. While that is absolutely true, we know what a gift it is for our students to have these adults guiding them that week. Work Team Adults for Middle School teams would need to commit to being there each day from 7:15am – 8:30pm. Work Team Adults for High School teams are asked to make a greater commitment of being on our campus the entire week which also includes spending the night.
We also have a need for other important volunteer positions besides Work Team Adults including kitchen helpers, the mission store, serving snacks, and hosting a shower house. If you have any questions at all, please email us at students@fmcm.org
Included Special Needs Participants
- Included Experience is open to all of those who are 18 years and older.
We offer a very unique and meaningful experience this week for our Included Special Needs Participants. We use an adapted version of the Middle School mission week schedule with a greater focus on serving in our community both indoors and outdoors. Participants will be dropped off at 7:15am so they can eat breakfast with all of the work teams before going out to their own mission project and experience. They will then have a fun afternoon activity before heading to dinner and worship. We ask that they be picked up after worship each night at 8:30pm. Spaces are limited to ensure the safety of our participants and overall quality experience.
We are also in need of Included Buddies to help us that week. Buddies will come alongside our Participants and serve as mentors throughout the week. We ask that you are at least 16 years old to serve as a buddy during United Mission Week.
If you have any questions about our Included Experience, please email us at included@fmcm.org
