Living generously is a reflection of a real understanding of God’s heart, God’s character, our human condition and how God challenges us to live. Living generously is a tangible and real practice that works against our sense of isolation. When we give to others, in a supernatural way, that activity connects us to God because we are participating in an act that actually began in God. And when we give, when we live generously, we are actively working against the tendency of our human condition that drifts towards idolatry, our willingness to serve something less than God in the hopes that what we serve will give us what only God can give.
