Renewing our commitment, celebrating 75 new members!

by David Alexander

Thoughts from David Alexander

Dear First Family,

This weekend we will continue our emphasis on the Wesley Covenant Prayer which was the focus of a special worship shared each year by the early Methodists to renew their commitment to live as God’s covenant people. Over 1800 gathered in London in 1755 to be a part of that first covenant renewal service and in a few weeks, we will be sharing in this service together as we renew our own commitment to Christ and to one another in this new year.

Alongside that, I want you to know that this past Wednesday evening, we welcomed more than 75 new members into the life of our church. So many of them shared with me their excitement to be part of this faith family as well as their appreciation for the gracious welcome they have received.

The commitment each made and the gratitude each expressed is a testimony to who you are and how God is at work in our church right now.

Let me share two additional invitations with you today.

First, our first Guys Night Out of 2023 will happen tonight at 6:30 pm. We will share a great meal together and I will be interviewing Shane Trotter, another new member of our church and the author of the book, “Setting the Bar; Preparing Our Kids to Thrive in an Era of Distraction, Dependency, and Entitlement.” Men, it’s not too late to register and you can do so by visiting this link.

Finally, I want to invite you to participate in a congregational-wide survey we are launching today. It should take you less than 15 minutes and we want to hear your insight as we look at how we can grow even more effective in our mission of Making and Maturing Disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love others and serve the world.

Click this link to take this survey right now. Again, hear my appreciation for taking the time to bless your church in this way.

I love you and I am proud of you,

Pastor David
