Don’t miss these three special opportunities this week!

Thoughts from David Alexander

Dear First Family,

We have a great weekend in store for us. I hope you will be in worship this weekend as we continue our emphasis on one the historic prayers of the early Methodist movement known as the Wesley Covenant Prayer (printed below).

Our next New Member Dinner will happen this Wednesday evening, January 18th,  at 6:30pm.

We have these throughout the year to celebrate the many individuals and families who have already made a membership commitment as well as those desiring to take this important step. We already have over 50 registered for this dinner but have plenty of room for more. To RSVP, you can visit this link.

Our annual Boomers & Beyond luncheon will take place this Thursday, January 19th at 11am.

We normally have this gathering in December but waited this year so that we could gather in our new renovated gym space. If you are retired or of retirement age (or know somebody who is), we would love to bless you this Thursday. Please register here so we will know how much food to prepare. You can also register by calling our church office at 817-477-2287 or email boomers@fmcm.org.

Finally, Guys Night Out will be next Friday Night, January 20th, at 6:30pm.
We will be gathering to have a great dinner together, but more importantly I will be interviewing Shane Trotter who serves as the Strength & Conditioning Coach at Mansfield High School and is the author of the book, Setting the Bar; Preparing Our Kids to Thrive in an Era of Distraction, Dependency, and Entitlement. For Dads, you can click here to read more about why I think Shane’s story will be particularly relevant for you. To register for this event,  click here or email adultdiscipleship@fmcm.org

We are going to have a great weekend and look forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming special events!

I love you and I am proud of you,

Pastor David

Wesley Covenant Prayer
I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will;
put me to doing, put me to suffering;
let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you,
exalted for you, or brought low for you;
let me be full,
let me be empty,
let me have all things,
let me have nothing:
I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things
to your pleasure and disposal.
And now, glorious and blessed God,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
you are mine and I am yours. So be it.
And the covenant now made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.
