DEAR FIRST FAMILY,
We had a wonderful Kick-off Weekend, and I want to start by sharing a few celebrations with you.
Our new Holy Roller cart was rolling, allowing 56 cars to utilize our remote parking lot and conveniently delivering those parked across Pleasant Ridge from their car door to the front door. Thank you to all who intentionally freed up a space on our Main Parking Lot for our guests.
With 200+ spots across the street, there is plenty of room for more who would like to make room for our continued growth!
This fall, our Student Ministry is taking intentional time to not only teach our students how to use their Bibles, but most importantly, how to study their Bibles. This past weekend, we had more than 100 students here on Sunday morning.
We launched a brand new resource we are calling Field Guides, with our first focused on the Practice of Prayer. We handed out over 850 of those, which are essentially a concise summary of our opening series of the year when we launched our 2025 goal of empowering one another to develop and deepen in the daily habit of prayer.
If you were unable to get a Prayer Field Guide, there will be more available this weekend. We would love for you to get one for yourself and another that you might share with someone else who might be a brand new Christian or those seeking a deeper understanding of the Christian faith.
Our intention over the course of time is to produce a whole library of these Field Guides around various practices and themes of the Christian faith. Our next Field Guide will be focused on the practice of forgiveness.
We’re also gearing up to launch The Prayer Course, which is an eight-week study on the practice of prayer featuring Pete Greig, who is the author of the book How to Pray. We will be offering that course at five different times starting the week of September 8th.
To register for that course or to find out more about everything we are doing in pursuit of our goal of becoming a praying church and a praying people, please visit www.fmcm.org/prayer.
Lastly, are you new or newish to First Methodist Mansfield? We want to WELCOME YOU HOME by inviting you to our Welcome Home Dinner on Wednesday, August 27 at 6:30pm in the Gathering Room of Building D. During the dinner, pastors and staff members will be present to answer questions and help you connect to the different ministries and into the life of our church.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend as we share the second week of our focus, Praying in the Dark.
Grace & Peace,
Pastor David
