Holy Baptism
Holy Baptism is a mark of Christian discipleship where an individual makes a commitment to live as a follower of Jesus or a family commits to raising their child as a Christian.
In baptism, we believe we are united with Christ in his death, raised to new life through the power of his resurrection, empowered through the work of the Holy Spirit to mature as disciples of Jesus, and received as members into Christ’s Holy Church.
We celebrate that in the same way God declared over Jesus at His baptism, “This is my son, whom I love. In him, I am well pleased,” we believe God declares over each of us those same words.
In our church, we baptize individuals of all ages.
ADULT BAPTISM
If you have not been baptized and would like to do so by professing your own faith in Christ and accepting him as your Lord and Savior, we would invite you to take that step. In our weekend services, we baptize by placing water on an individual’s head, but if you would prefer to be baptized by immersion, we can make other arrangements to accommodate that request.
INFANT BAPTISM
Whenever a child is baptized, we remember the words of Jesus who said, “Let the little children come to me, for to such as these belongs the Kingdom of God.” (Matthew 19:14) Parents who bring their children for baptism make vows on behalf of their child. Professing their own faith in Christ, they commit to living out that faith for their child and raising them within the church where they can be nurtured in the faith by the larger community.
We believe baptism is a one-time sacrament that does not need to be repeated, and we appreciate that some families may choose to wait for their child to be baptized when they are ready to make their own profession of faith.
