Dear First Family,
As you probably already know, for more than a decade we have given away 100% of our Christmas Eve offering to our ministry partner, ZOE Empowers. In all of our services this weekend, we will be sharing the total amount we received this Christmas. For now I will simply say, you once again set a new record which we are excited to celebrate this weekend.
I am grateful that your commitment to empowering orphaned and vulnerable children on the other side of the world is matched by your ongoing commitment to helping neighbors in our own backyard.
One of our local ministry partners is Habitat for Humanity, an organization that was deeply impacted by the leadership of President Carter. Across the nation this week, Habitat is paying tribute to President Carter’s work of opening doors to brighter futures for thousands of Habitat homeowners for more than four decades.
In select locations, Habitat has placed doors that will be used in future Habitat builds and invited the public to come and sign those doors in celebration of President Carter’s life. Because of your long term commitment to Habitat, our church will be serving as one of five locations in the DFW area. We will have two doors in our atrium space this weekend.
I hope you will stop by to sign one of those doors and invite others to do so as well.
- Monday – Thursday 11 am to 2 pm
- Wednesday evening 6 pm to 8 pm
As well as during our weekly worship service times
- Saturday evenings 6pm – 7pm
- Sunday 9 am – 12 pm
Finally, this weekend we will be kicking off our 2025 focus on the practice of prayer. We will begin with four weeks of teaching on prayer and will be carrying that forward throughout the year as we work towards the goal of empowering our entire church to develop and deepen in the daily habit of prayer. If you would like to dive deeper into the practice of prayer, let me recommend the book, How to Pray; A Simple Guide For Normal People by Pete Greig. There will be a limited number of these books available at our FMCM Market this weekend or you can purchase one from Amazon on the link above.
Just a reminder, in case of inclement weather, we send out a text message alerting our congregation of any closures or modifications to our office hours. If you haven’t already done so, this would be a great time to subscribe to our church-wide text group by texting the word “FMCM” to 817-477-6498 and you will be added to that group. Feel free to email us at info@fmcm.org if you need assistance signing up for our text service.
I love you and I am so proud of you,
Pastor David
