Dear First Family,
We have a big weekend ahead of us and there are three things I want to make sure you know about as we prepare.
First, If you are baking cookies for the upcoming Kairos Prison Ministry event, those are due back this weekend. You can bring those by any time this weekend. During worship, our Kairos Team will be in the Ministry corner of our atrium collecting those cookies.
Second, This Saturday from 3-5:30 will be our Fall Family Extravaganza. Our campus will be filled with activities so please park in our remote parking lot across Pleasant Ridge Dr. We will be running a shuttle continually during this event. To see a map detailing all of the fun we have planned, you can find that here on our website, and if you’ve been thinking about inviting a family for the first time, Fall Family Extravaganza would be a great opportunity to do so.
With the potential for rain, we will be notifying you by text if we have to make any adjustments. If you have not subscribed to our church-wide texts, you can do that by texting FMCM to 817-477-6498.
And finally, this Sunday afternoon at 2pm we will be having an ordination service for Pastor Julian. We want to pack the house for this significant moment in Julian’s life as well as the life of our church. We will be broadcasting this service online if you are unable to participate in person.
For thousands of years, Christian communities have intentionally set aside individuals to serve as “overseers,” entrusting them with the work of shepherding, administering the sacraments and continuing to teach and affirm what the Apostle Paul describes as,
“The gospel… which you have received, on which you stand and by which you are saved.”
What we will gather to do on Sunday is what countless generations of Christians have done before us… to ordain, to set aside Julian Patrick Hobdy to serve as an Elder in Christ’s Holy Church.
It promises to be a moment that you will not want to miss. Together, we will affirm Julian’s calling and share with him what I often say to you,
“We love you and we are so proud of you!”
I look forward to seeing you this weekend.
Pastor David
