STUDENTS MISSIONS & SERVING
First Methodist Students serve in the world, the community, the church, and in their own lives.
Ways to Serve
Serving in the Church
Students serve in many ways within the larger church community! As you grow in your faith, it’s the perfect time for new experiences, exploring the variety of ways you can serve, and seeing how your spiritual gifts can be put into action. Our hope is to shepherd every student into how they can as they serve across the church.
Contact us at students@fmcm.org to talk with us about how we can help you get started!
5th GRADE MISSION SQUAD
June
This event gives 5th grade students all the training they need to participate in hands-on serving activities with FM Students! Students participate in worship in the Sanctuary and then receive training in our Missions & Serving building. Teams of students, led by adult mentors, learn the basics of how to use tools safely and responsibly. Then they put what they learned into practice as they use the skills to complete a mission project on our church campus.
After a week of being part of the 5th Grade Mission Squad, students leave excited and prepared to serve in Mission Week the following year.
MISSION WEEK
July
Every year, our congregation gathers around our students as they go out to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the community. Teams of students, led by adult mentors, venture out to serve in a variety of ways including building and physical projects or partnering with local non-profit organizations. Throughout the day, teams share in devotional and prayer time together.
First Methodist Mansfield serves as the home base when the work is done. Here, we have evenings full of incredible worship, gifted speakers, ridiculous games, great food, and so much more.
This is a week where lives are transformed through the presence of Jesus as we serve others.
PUMPKIN PATCH
September – October
Every fall, we host a pumpkin patch on our campus at the corner of Walnut Creek and Pleasant Ridge! We have many visitors on our campus during Pumpkin Patch season, and we are happy to provide this experience for our community. Come hang out in the patch, play some games, take a few photos, and pick out your perfect pumpkin! Proceeds from the sales at the patch go toward First Methodist Students and First Methodist Included Special Needs missions. This funds Mission Week, where we yearly serve our Mansfield community in big ways!
Helping at the Pumpkin Patch
- We have two pumpkin unloading Sundays where students and their families roll up their sleeves to unload an 18-wheeler full of pumpkins and display them around the patch.
- Students and their families sign up to work shifts at the patch throughout the month.
