Preparing for Holy Week

by David Alexander

Dear First Family,

This Sunday we enter the most important week of the year in the life of the Church. As we take our final steps with Jesus to the cross, I want to encourage you to intentionally slow yourself down in the days ahead. You might take a few moments throughout each of the coming days to pause and pray simple prayers.

Jesus, I love you.

Holy Spirit, lead me.

Father, help me to live this day to the full.

Give me eyes to see, ears to hear.

Come, Lord Jesus.

Jesus, have mercy on me.

In this coming Holy Week, embrace what makes these days holy. Jesus entered Jerusalem with a clear purpose.

No one takes my life from me,” he says in John’s Gospel, “but I lay it down on my own accord.”

I hope you will be a part of each step we take together this week beginning this Sunday as we enter Jerusalem with Jesus.
