What is First Methodist Students?

We are committed to raising the next generation to know and love God, and to be deeply devoted to practicing the way of Jesus.

Weekly programs are every Sunday Morning at 9:30 am or 11:00 am and Wednesday night during the school year at 6:30 pm.

First Methodist Students offers diverse opportunities for 5th-12th graders to connect and grow within a biblical community. Throughout the year, students can engage in a variety of events, milestone programs, and service projects, all designed to deepen their faith and build lasting relationships.

What are the values of First Methodist Students?

At First Methodist Students, the values we focus on are:

  • Christ-Centered
  • Biblical Foundation
  • Relational Discipleship & Community
  • Spiritual Growth
  • Comprehensive (Holistic) Faith
  • Awareness of God’s Presence

  • Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm during the school year.

How can I get involved in Student Ministry?

Come to one of our weekly programs and we will be happy to show you around!

Any of our fun events are a great place to start, too. Those generally require a registration. Check out First Methodist Students Events to see what’s coming up.

Do I or my family need to be a Methodist or a member of First Methodist Mansfield to join First Methodist Students?

Nope! All students are welcome here.

Are there opportunities for parents to get involved?

Absolutely. Parents and guardians are the primary faith influencers in a child’s life. We hope to partner with you to lead your student into a deeper walk with Jesus.

A great way to take an active role in your child’s formation is to serve as a mentor during weekly programs. You’ll hear what your student is learning about while serving a different group of students and be able to discuss with your child at home. This is what a church who makes disciples of the next generation as a community looks like!

Other opportunities include joining us for one of our special events, milestone programs, or Mission Week. There are many ways for parents to gather around and support this community of students.

Reach out to the First Methodist Students Team for more information at students@fmcm.org. We would love to talk with you!

Are there small groups within Student Ministry?

Yes. During weekly programs, we break out into groups by grade and gender.

Does student ministry offer any service or mission opportunities?

We do! We are also happy to sign any forms you have for schools or organizations that require service hours.

As you grow in your faith, it’s the perfect time for new experiences, exploring the variety of ways you can serve, and seeing how your spiritual gifts can be put into action. Our hope is to shepherd every student into how they can as they serve across the church. Check out the Students Missions & Serving page.

Do you have ideas on how you’d like to serve? We want to hear from you! Email the First Methodist Students team at students@fmcm.org.

Who is working with my child?

All volunteers and staff working with children are known by the First Methodist Mansfield staff. They are required to complete a background check, take a Serving at First class, and undergo ministry training every three years to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for your child.

Is there a fee to participate in First Methodist Students?

Weekly programs are absolutely free!

Certain events require a fee to cover the costs of materials, food, or admissions. Anything that requires payment will have the amount listed on the registration form.

Does Student Ministry take a break for the summer?

We meet on Sundays year-round.

Midweek Worship follows the school calendar, taking a break for the summer.

However, summers are full of fun events, Mission Week, and churchwide opportunities.
