What is First Methodist Kids?

First Methodist Kids, also known as Children’s Ministry, is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth of children from birth through 4th grade. We aim to make and mature disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love others, and serve the world. Our programs focus on building a strong faith foundation through engaging activities, dynamic worship, and Biblical teaching.

What are the values of First Methodist Kids?

At First Methodist Kids, we focus on three core truths each month:

  • I Need to Make the Wise Choice: Encouraging children to make thoughtful and wise decisions in their daily lives.
  • I Can Trust God No Matter What: Building trust in God’s plan and promises, teaching children to rely on Him.
  • I Should Treat Others the Way I Want to Be Treated: Emphasizing empathy and kindness in all interactions.

What is the age group for First Methodist Kids?

Our First Methodist Kids program is divided into two age groups:

  • Early Childhood for ages birth through prekindergarten
  • Elementary for kindergarten through fourth grade

What does weekend worship look like?

  • Early Childhood: Children enjoy interactive stories, worship songs, and hands-on activities that focus on foundational Bible stories and truths in a fun classroom setting.
  • Elementary: Activities include dynamic large group worship as well as engaging Bible lessons and small group discussions aimed at helping children apply Biblical principles and grow in their relationship with Jesus.

What is Midweek Worship?

Midweek Worship takes place on Wednesdays and offers an additional opportunity for children to come together for worship, Bible study, and community. It reinforces Sunday lessons and helps build strong, faith-based friendships.

Who is working with my child?

All volunteers and staff working with children are known by the First Methodist Mansfield staff. They are required to complete a background check, take a Serving at First class, and undergo ministry training every three years to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for your child.

First Methodist Kids supports spiritual growth through engaging Bible lessons, interactive activities, and worship. We integrate our core values—making wise choices, trusting God, and treating others with kindness—into our monthly virtues and Bible verses to help children apply their faith in everyday life.
