ASH WEDNESDAY
March 5th
Come and Go Ashes: 6:00 – 8:00 am  •   11:00 am – 1:00 pm  •  Chapel
Service: 7:00 pm  •  Sanctuary  •  Online

Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent which is a 40-day season of preparation leading up to the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Ashes are used in scripture to signify grief and repentance. When ashes are placed on the forehead in the sign of the cross, we are reminded of our sinfulness before God and our human mortality. Without the mighty love of God, life isn’t possible; yet we so often fail to follow the Giver of this good and beautiful life.

We want to invite you to participate in Ash Wednesday in a variety of ways. Stop by our Chapel anytime from 6 – 8 am or 11 am – 1 pm to receive ashes, and then make plans to join us either in person or online for our 7 pm Ash Wednesday Service.

There will not be programming for our students that night, instead, they are encouraged to take part in the Ash Wednesday service with their family. Our Children’s Ministry will still be having programming and taking part in their imposition of ashes. Come be a part of this important start to the 40-day journey leading us to Easter!

If you are grieving a loss in your life, we want to invite you to attend Journey Through Grief. Journey Through Grief is a 6-week class for those who have experienced any kind of loss by providing tools and a supportive environment to understand and cope with the grief process. You are not alone in this journey and your new way of life. Our facilitators for this class understand how deeply grief and loss affect people and families, and we would like to share resources to help during this time as we walk with you.
