A Season to Celebrate and Remember

by David Alexander

Thoughts from David Alexander

Dear First Family,

The holiday season is now in full swing.

MainStage Classic Theatre offered three wonderful performances of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever in our sanctuary last weekend. That space was filled again last night for our First Faith Preschool & Kindergarten Christmas program.

Throughout this entire week, Angel Tree gifts were also sorted and distributed to hundreds of individuals and families. Thanks to each of you who were a part of Angel Tree this year!

Tomorrow evening at 5pm in our sanctuary we will be having our annual Remembrance Service.

This service is an opportunity to remember and celebrate the life of loved ones in the midst of the holiday season. All are invited and welcome to bring a photo of a loved one to be displayed near our altar as we give God thanks and celebrate the life of those saints who have gone before us.

We are looking forward to another great Sunday of worship as we mark the third weekend of our journey through the Advent season. And right around the corner is one of the most meaningful and inspiring weeks of our entire year.

On December 23rd and 24th, we will have 11 opportunities for you to participate and invite others to share in one of our Christmas Eve services. You can see all service times listed below.

We will have four family services which will include an opportunity for all children to participate in a live nativity, two services led by our 9:30 contemporary worship team as well as two services led by our entire Traditional Worship Arts team. .

Our final service will take place at 11:30 pm on Christmas Eve which will include Holy Communion and finish at midnight as we welcome Christmas Day together.

Finally, I want to remind you that Christmas Eve is a gift we share with one another and our entire community and you can be a part of our sharing that gift.

You can do that by inviting others to join you for Christmas Eve and as always, we are in need of cheerful people to serve as greeters and ushers at each of these services. To sign up to help host and serve in this way, please visit this link

As you can tell, it’s a busy season but one filled with rich blessings. This Christmas will be dramatically different than last year and for that I know we are all exceedingly grateful!

I look forward to seeing you this weekend and sharing these special weeks ahead as we celebrate the birth of Christ together!

I love you and I am proud of you,

Pastor David
