A praying church and praying people

by David Alexander

Dear First Family,

I hope you will be in worship with us as we share our final teaching on the practice of prayer. After this weekend, we will be fully launching ourselves into our goal for 2025 of empowering one another to deepen and develop in the daily habit of prayer

If you have not already set your alarm for noon in order to join your church in praying the Lord’s Prayer every day, I want to invite you to do that. I’ve already heard from so many how meaningful that practice has been.

If you have not yet downloaded the Lectio 365 app, let me encourage you to do that as well. Starting this Monday, we will be setting aside the daily devotional resource we’ve been producing and sending out every weekday for almost 15 years and encouraging our entire church to begin using Lectio 365.

Lectio 365 offers reflections and guided prayers in both text and audio format that are available three times a day (morning, midday and evening) for all seven days of the week.

What the Lord has done already in these first few weeks has been extraordinary and I am so grateful to the many who have shared testimonies with me of their experience thus far. We believe that God is going to do some amazing things in our lives and in our life together as we live into this vision of deepening our commitment to be a praying church and a praying people.

Finally, last Sunday afternoon we had our Annual Meeting where our Lay leadership shared a report of our ministry in 2024 and I shared our vision for the year ahead. If you did not have the opportunity to attend that gathering, you can find a video of that presentation as well as the handouts we shared by visiting www.fmcm.org/annualmeeting

I love you and I am proud of you,

Pastor David
