Important Weekend and a Great Celebration

Dear First Family, 

I firmly believe that every time we gather is an opportunity of great importance. Worshipping in community together is the engine of the Christian life. For all, it is a critical need. But with that being said, I want to especially encourage you to be in-person or online at either our 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. service this Sunday. 

It has been our tradition for many years to set aside one weekend a year to share a “State of the Church” message. Since the beginning of the pandemic we felt it was important that we do that twice a year to help keep our congregation informed. 

This weekend will be unique in that I want us to see a picture of the state of our church within the larger Church that is working to embody the life and love of Jesus all across our nation and the entire world.

I hope you will make an intentional effort to be present this weekend. 

Today I also want to share with you about a special moment from this past Sunday as we celebrated Dr. Scott Ferrell and his 20th anniversary of the start of his ministry here. Over the course of decades, we have all been immeasurably blessed by the love and joy he brings as well as the countless moments when his work has enabled us to experience God and inspired us to an even deeper devotion to Christ and reaching others with the good news of Christ.

To honor Scott’s ministry, we are inviting you to help fund one of his long-held dreams of hosting a Strings Camp for students interested in the orchestra. After many years of preparation, we will be hosting our first camp next summer. All the money raised will help make this camp happen and provide scholarships for students who have that need. 

If you would like to make a gift, you may do so online, through our church app, or by check and noting that gift as for our “Strings Camp.” 

With the Fall season upon us, there is much more on the horizon. If you have noticed, our Pumpkin Patch is open and FILLED with pumpkins. We would love for you to stop by to take some pictures and pick up some pumpkins for your home. Remember, all proceeds are invested right back into our local community through our Student’s mission work throughout the year.
