Senior year is a time of significant transition and growth. You will experience a shift in responsibility and a growing sense of independence. Challenges will arise as some of the habits, behaviors and beliefs that have gotten you through your younger years don’t hold up as you prepare for life after high school. Unfortunately, this is a common time when young adults get “lost” – whether that’s in terms of career, school, relationships or faith. The Capstone program was developed years ago specifically for students in their final year of high school to help tackle these issues.
What is Capstone?
The goals of Capstone are to PREPARE Seniors for life as a Christ follower after high school. CONNECT students with God and with their peers. SERVE those within our ministry, congregation and community and LEAD through different avenues of Students Ministries and First Methodist Mansfield. We accomplish these goals by combining deep Christ-centered discussions with hands-on activities that help develop important life skills.
When is Capstone?
Sundays • January 21 – April 28 • 6:00 -8:00 pm
This year Capstone will begin on Sunday, January 21st and will conclude with the Capstone Service Project on April 28th. We will meet weekly on Sunday nights, following Mansfield ISD school closings and holidays. A full schedule will be provided later this semester.
Senior Celebration Service
May 19 • Sanctuary
We are excited to get to celebrate the Class of 2024 as they embark on a new season of life! We invite all graduating seniors and their families to join us for a time of celebration and worship to celebrate the accomplishments of our seniors and their future aspirations. Dinner will be provided in The Loft from 6 – 7 pm, and from 7 – 8 pm we will gather in The Sanctuary for the service where we will worship with one another and pray over our seniors. Please note— Dinner in The Loft is for students and their immediate family members, but you are free to invite any and everyone to the service in the sanctuary. To be included in the Senior Booklet and to RSVP to Senior Celebration, you will need to register.
