A Note From Pastor Shea

A Note From Pastor Shea

Dear First Family,

Ready, set, go! This is my son Max’s favorite game right now. He waits behind his big toy train with wheels ready to push and run as fast as he can through my legs. He doesn’t tire easily either. This is the mode many of us find ourselves in now that we are, more or less, back to our accustomed, fast-paced schedules. I pray you take time this weekend for Sabbath.

We are continuing our Be Brave sermon series this weekend. We’ll be exploring the time in Moses’ life when he told God “no.” We recognize and confess how we’re often unwilling to do what God has called us to do. Make plans to join us in worship this weekend as we explore the ways God is calling us to be a coalition of the willing and brave in our faith!

Remember, it’s ready, set, go time. We are excited about all the new beginnings in the life of our church. Please read through these opportunities to be brave and stay open to the leading of the Holy Spirit:

In two weeks we will be having our BIG WEEKEND! Be intentional about inviting someone to join you in church on September 14 or 15. This is a time where our sole focus is worship. We desire to give God our best in every service we offer. We are making a special effort to reach out and invite familiar faces we haven’t seen in a while and anyone who is in need of a church home. We are asking God to fill up all of our worship spaces. Together, plan on being part of a BIG worship weekend where we will lift the name of Jesus high and rejoice in the gifts God has given us to bravely go make disciples. I want to invite you to watch this invitation to our BIG WEEKEND from Pastor David.

Several SIGNIFICANT church-wide studies are starting Wednesday, September 4th. I want to personally invite you to join me for Pastors Bible Study at 9:30 am led by Pastor David or theApocalypse Bible Study taught by me and Pastor Mike at 6:30 pm. We are also offeringHomegrown - a study about cultivating kids in the fruit of the spirit taught by Andrea Roberts at 6:30 pm. There are several more studies starting up on September 4th or shortly after. For a complete list and other important information, go to fmcm.org/studies.

CALLING ALL MOMS!!! If you’re looking for a place to connect with other moms, Coffee Talk is a friendly, casual time where moms can connect with one another while being inspired and encouraged. Led by Michelle Gery, Director of Children's Ministry and Jennie Morton, Director of Early Childhood— this group meets a few times each month to discuss topics related to parenting, friendship, and navigating life in a busy world. Childcare is available with required registration. Go here for more information.

Capstone is a program designed specifically for our High School Seniors. The goal of Capstone is to empower our students to grow deeper in their faith and equip them for the next phase of life. We do that through hands-on, life skill activities and intentional discussion. Registration is $35 for the year to assist with the costs of a Capstone T-shirt, supplies for the monthly activities and the end of year Senior Celebration. Go to fmcm.org/capstone to register!

For those of you who will be out of town this weekend, I want to encourage you to worship with us and continue your giving online.

I thank God for you and praise Him for your faithfulness to the gospel. I look forward to seeing you around campus this weekend.

Grace and Peace in Christ,
Pastor Shea
