A Note From Pastor Shea

by Pastor Shea Reyenga
A Note From Pastor Shea

Dear First Family,

Wherever you are, I hope you join us for worship this weekend as we continue our series Chosen. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight” (Ephesians 1:3-4). Before time began, we were chosen by God. Our worth and our value comes not from our own thoughts about ourselves, not from the thoughts and actions of others, nor our own ability and performance but from our heavenly Father who chose us before creation for a purpose: to be holy and blameless. This weekend we’ll be exploring what it means to be chosen for relationship. We can’t make it to the destination we’re designed for on our own.

We’re excited about these upcoming ministry opportunities. Please take a look at what is upcoming below.

Join me on Wednesday nights for an after-show discussion of The Chosen at 8:00 pm. We discussed episode 1 this week and will discuss episode 2 this next Wednesday, July 15. We hope this is a time for you to stay connected with us during the summer and grow deeper as a disciple of Jesus. Register in advance for this Zoom discussion here. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. If you have questions, contact us at grouplife@fmcm.org. If you missed this week’s discussion, you can watch the recording here.

Here at First Methodist Mansfield, our focus is Making Disciples of Jesus Christ who Love God, Love Others, and Serve the World. We would like to use the month of July as the Great Month of Serving and work alongside Remote United Mission Week to extend our reach deeper into our neighborhoods, community, nation, and world. We want to invite all of you to pray about the ways you can serve during this month. Remote United Mission Week is providing us a variety of ways to serve during the week of July 12 and beyond. Check out our app or website for greater ways you can serve. We can serve from our homes, as well as beyond our doorsteps - depending on your comfort level. For more information email us at info@fmcm.org

Remote United Mission Week starts this Sunday! We are excited to carry on our tradition of offering a week full of worship and service for our students. Even though this year looks a little different because it is all online and Remote, we know that this will actually help us expand our reach by opening up the opportunity for whole families and individuals to serve even though they are not students. You can still take part in this special week! Go to fmcmonline.org/remote for more information.

I want to encourage you to worship with us and continue your giving online or by downloading our Church App by texting FMCMAPP to 77977 or by searching FMCM in your App Store.

I thank God for you and praise Him for your faithfulness to the gospel. I look forward to seeing you around campus when this virus subsides. That day can’t come soon enough!

Grace and Peace in Christ,

Pastor Shea
