A Note From Pastor Shea

by Pastor Shea Reyenga
A Note From Pastor Shea

Dear First Family,

I hope you join us wherever you are this 4th of July weekend for worship. I’ll be kicking off our new series Chosen. Before breath entered our lungs, before we could make a mistake, before we could do anything of worth, our worth was given to us by God freely choosing us. We are chosen for a purpose. We all share the same purpose and yet we all fulfill that purpose differently because we are uniquely gifted. Throughout this four-week sermon series, we'll explore the purpose we are chosen for and how we can each fulfill our calling by using the special gifts God has given us.

As a bonus, this series will be using the show "The Chosen," about Jesus' early ministry as a companion piece. In that show we see a fresh and inspiring depiction of Jesus choosing and calling his disciples. Each week we'll see a glimpse from the show of what it looks like to realize we are chosen for a purpose. We hope house churches, groups, and families watch the show together and engage with its message and creative portrayal of Jesus' early ministry. For more information about this series, go to fmcmonline.org/chosen.

We’re excited about these upcoming ministry opportunities. Please take a look at what is upcoming below.

Here at First Methodist Mansfield, our focus is Making Disciples of Jesus Christ who Love God, Love Others, and Serve the World. We would like to use the month of July as the Great Month of Serving and work alongside Remote United Mission Week to extend our reach deeper into our neighborhoods, community, nation, and world. We want to invite all of you to pray about the ways you can serve during this month. Remote United Mission Week is providing us a variety of ways to serve during the week of July 12 and beyond. We will also have greater ways you can serve available on our website and app starting on July 7th. We can serve from our homes, as well as beyond our doorsteps - depending on your comfort level. For more information email us at info@fmcm.org

We are LESS THAN TWO WEEKS away from Remote United Mission Week 2020! Have YOU joined the challenge to serve remotely this year?! If you or your family would still like to participate in Remote United Mission Week 2020, we have limited quantities of supply kits and t-shirts still available! We know this is a weird year and United Mission Week looks different. But we are determined to still live out our mission to love God, love others, and serve the world. This is a year to adjust how we view mission and serving and serve people we haven't before. We're going to get to serve not only our immediate community, but also partner with Zoe Empowers and serve around the world. This year may be different, but it's one we won't forget and neither will those who we'll be serving!

  • Registration forms for students and families can be found here!
  • If you would like to purchase a t-shirt, they can be purchased here!

I want to encourage you to worship with us and continue your giving online or by downloading our Church App by texting FMCMAPP to 77977 or by searching FMCM in your App Store.

I thank God for you and praise Him for your faithfulness to the gospel. I look forward to seeing you around campus when the wave of this virus subsides. That day can’t come soon enough!

Grace and Peace in Christ,

Pastor Shea
