A Note From Pastor Shea

A Note From Pastor Shea

Dear First Family,
I hope you join us in worship this weekend as we continue our series called The Next Great Awakening. Times of awakening are usually precipitated by faithful men and women seeking God like their lives depended on Him! Pastor David shared with us this passage from Matthew 9:37-38, “Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Before any work is to be done, the disciples are told to ask God first. This weekend we’ll focus on asking God and the power of prayer. I’m not aware of any Awakening happening in history without God’s people fervently praying.
Please take a look at what is upcoming below. I have a few more things to share than normal.
Yard Signs! A big THANK YOU to those of you who have already ordered your First Methodist Mansfield Yard Sign! As of this past weekend, we have delivered over 250 signs with another 150 being printed as we speak. Do you have a yard sign in your yard? Send us a picture of you and your yard sign. Do you want a Yard Sign in your yard? Go to fmcmonline.org/store to order yours today!
Looking for a good book to read this summer? Join Pastor Sharon in a 9-week Zoom discussion group of The Magnificent Story by James Bryan Smith, author of The Good and Beautiful God. Smith writes, "Any story worth giving the power to shape our lives must pass this simple test: Is it beautiful, good, and true? If it is, then it is a magnificent story - the magnificent story of Christ in our lives - and that is where transformation takes place." Weekly Zoom discussions begin Thursday, June 4 at 10:00 am and end July 30. Pastor Sharon will also offer an information session on Zoom with more details about the book and weekly sessions on Thursday, May 28 at 10:00 am. Register here.
Second Graders! We do NOT want you to have to wait until we can reopen our doors to give you your very own special Bible. Our team has been working hard on a NEW plan to get your Bible to you starting on June 1st. If you have a child who just completed 2nd grade or older who wants a Bible, this is for you too. Our goal is to provide every child who wants and needs one an age-appropriate Bible of their very own. We will have two different opportunities for you to receive your Bible:
**Drive by pick up on June 1st from 1-3 pm in the Drive by the Sanctuary with Pastor David and Michelle Gery, our Children's Director
**Or our Children's Ministry Team will deliver them to your home the week of June 1st
Join us for a special prayer during all services on June 7th with your Bible. Register at fmcm.org/bibles.
Here is the schedule for this weekend and the upcoming week. Please take note and share with others.

I want to encourage you to worship with us and continue your giving online or by downloading our Church App by texting FMCMAPP to 77977 or by searching FMCM in your App Store.
I thank God for you and praise Him for your faithfulness to the gospel. I look forward to seeing you around campus when the wave of this virus subsides. That day can’t come soon enough!
Grace and Peace in Christ,
Pastor Shea
