A Note From Pastor Shea

A Note From Pastor Shea

Dear First Family,

Please join us this weekend in worship as Pastor David and I continue our series, It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, based on the show and life of Fred RogersWe will explore the power of silence and the power of our words. Fred Rogers was known for being very deliberate and intentional with his words and pausing to reflect before speaking. We are often too quick to add to the noise in our world. We have to make sure our opinion is heard without always reflectively discerning what is appropriate and true to say. Paul provides a corrective for us in Ephesians 4:29. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

We have many important opportunities upcoming that I want to bring to your attention as you consider taking the next step on your faith journey in 2020:

If now is the time for you or someone you know and would love to take the next step and join First Methodist, please register for Starting Point which is Wednesday, January 15 at 6:30pm. Starting Point is a gathering led by our Senior Pastor. All guests interested in joining the church are invited to learn more about the church, our mission, and what we believe. This is an opportunity to ask questions and meet our pastors and members of our staff. Childcare is available. Please visit our website to register.

Start the New Year off right budgeting better by coming to a workshop offered two separate times: January 15 at 6:30pm and January 26 at 4pm. The Financial Care Ministry is here to support you through the joys and struggles of one of the most significant areas of your life. This workshop is for those who have thought about setting up a budget but don't know how, for those that haven't thought about budgeting but always wonder where the money goes at the end of the month, or for those who already have their budget, but need the New Years' nudge to get back on track and tighten the strings again. Registration is required. Go to fmcm.org/financialstudies to register and for more information.

Thank you for kicking off The Well strong in 2020! We want to continue the momentum and grow to glorify God more. If you haven’t had a chance to visit, please come and join us at 11am in the Chapel.

Finally, I want to invite you to download our First Methodist Mansfield app! You can do that by texting FMCMAPP to 77977 or by searching for FMCM in the app store. Please know that a member from our communications team will be in the atrium for the next couple of weeks to help you with whatever questions you may have about our app. You can also email us at info@fmcm.org with your questions.

For those of you who will be out of town this weekend, I want to encourage you to worship with us and continue your giving online.

I thank God for you and praise Him for your faithfulness to the gospel. I look forward to seeing you around campus this weekend.

Grace and Peace in Christ,

Pastor Shea
